My friends and fellow MVPs over at [AccessForever.org](https://www.accessforever.org/post/visual-glitches-and-format-problems) (AFo) have been gathering recent error reports from around the web related to Access 2607 and 2608:

[Visual Glitches and Format ProblemsIn versions >=2607 there are visual glitches and formatting errors mainly in reports, but also in forms. White backgrounds, old fonts, wrong lines or pages…![](https://static.ghost.org/v5.0.0/images/link-icon.svg)AccessForeverKarl Donaubauer![](https://static.wixstatic.com/media/3d02f3_16b22db0f8cf4e3cb714e230abb0139b~mv2.jpg/v1/fill/w_720,h_480,al_c,lg_1,q_80/3d02f3_16b22db0f8cf4e3cb714e230abb0139b~mv2.jpg)](https://www.accessforever.org/post/visual-glitches-and-format-problems)

## Symptoms Observed in the Wild

The problem manifests itself in several ways, including:

- The blocky "System" font replacing custom fonts (even in the built-in Property Sheet itself)
- Unexplained hard crashes at application start-up
- Margins being changed when exporting reports to PDF
- Some pages of multi-page reports printing at 1/4 size when exported to PDF
- Solid backgrounds showing behind text on controls that should have a transparent background

## Root Cause Unknown

The Microsoft Access team is aware of the issues, but the root cause has not yet been identified as of this writing (2026-08-23). One theory floated at AFo is that this is a byproduct of a **Windows Security update**.

The Access team has also been working on rolling out the **new zooming feature** in phases. If I had to guess, I would imagine some of the work on those features may have had some unintended consequences.

Or it **could be both** explanations. Perhaps a recent security update is blocking whatever method Access is using to load fonts. And maybe an implementation of the zoom feature has a weird corner case when exporting certain report pages to PDF.

## Workaround

For now, the best-known workaround (if you are experiencing these issues) is to [**roll back to Office 2606**](https://www.accessforever.org/post/roll-back-to-previous-versions-of-office).

[Roll-back to previous versions of OfficeIf an update for Microsoft 365 contains a relevant bug, we will inform you on AFo about workarounds and the planned fix date. But sometimes it is unavoidable to quickly roll-back such updates until the problem has been fixed by Microsoft. This article will show three different methods to roll back undesired updates. See methods 1 and 2 for all click-to-run (CTR) versions of Microsoft 365 and Office. For MSI versions, use method 3 below.PreparationsFollowing steps are necessary before rolling back![](https://static.ghost.org/v5.0.0/images/link-icon.svg)AccessForeverPeter Doering![](https://static.wixstatic.com/media/e24849_cf560de0359d4780a10f32ee3640dc9f~mv2.png/v1/fill/w_720,h_480,al_c,lg_1,q_85/e24849_cf560de0359d4780a10f32ee3640dc9f~mv2.png)](https://www.accessforever.org/post/roll-back-to-previous-versions-of-office)

## Watch AccessForever.org for Updates

The AFo website is managed by multiple Microsoft Access MVPs (spanning multiple time zones). Collectively, they spend a great deal of time monitoring Access forums and answering questions. That website is the best resource for the latest news and updates on this bug and many others.
